Carl Zeiss Receives Order, Licenses Technique

To meet immediate deployment requirements, the German army has ordered panoramic reconnaissance and surveillance systems from Carl Zeiss Optronics GmbH of Oberkochen, Germany, for use in protecting forward operating bases (FOBs) in northern Afghanistan. The systems will facilitate the protection of not only the FOBs’ immediate surroundings, but also of an area over several kilometers. They consist of high-resolution daylight target observation and thermal imaging cameras as well as a system for situation reports.
