Chalcogenide Fibers Mimic Brain Functions

Chalcogenide microfibers could be used to replicate the workings of the human brain, enabling optical computers capable of learning and evolving. A variety of broadband photoinduced effects allow metal-sulfide fibers to be switched on and off.
