AMS Acquires Cambridge CMOS Sensors

PREMSTAETTEN, Austria, June 24, 2016 — Semiconductor manufacturer AMS AG has acquired Cambridge CMOS Sensors Ltd. (CCMOSS) in an all-cash agreement, of which the terms were not disclosed. CCMOSS’ micro hotplates are MEMS structures used in gas sensors for volume applications in the automotive, industrial, medical and consumer markets, complementary to AMS’ metal oxide gas sensing materials to detect gases like carbon monoxide, nitric oxide and volatile organic compounds. CCMOSS also holds a portfolio of IR technology comprising high-performance IR radiation sources and detectors for sensor applications. AMS...Read full article

    infrared
Infrared (IR) refers to the region of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths longer than those of visible light, but shorter than those of microwaves. The infrared spectrum spans wavelengths roughly between 700 nanometers (nm) and 1 millimeter (mm). It is divided into three main subcategories: Near-infrared (NIR): Wavelengths from approximately 700 nm to 1.4 micrometers (µm). Near-infrared light is often used in telecommunications, as well as in various imaging and sensing...
