X-Rays Expose Nonthermal Melting

Using time-resolved x-ray spectroscopy, researchers at Laboratoire d'Optique Appliquée have observed nonthermal melting in InSb. The work illustrates the expanding application of time-resolved femtosecond investigations, designed to describe unstable, short-lived chemical reactions.
