opaque projector

A projector used to project an image of an opaque object, such as a picture or small model, on a screen, by reflected light. It contains a lens of long focus and high relative aperture and a plane mirror in the beam to avoid a left-handed reversal of the image. Opaque projectors are called episcopes; those usable for slides or opaque objects are called epidiascopes.
