permeability: Typically represented by the Greek letter μ, magnetic permeability is the measure of a material's ability to generate and sustain a magnetic field within itself when an external magnetic field is applied. The magnetic permeability of a material is then deduced down to the ratio of the degree of magnetization induced within a material to the strength of the external magnetic field that is applied.
