silver-disc pyrheliometer

An instrument that uses a blackened silver-disc reflector with a shutter to create temperature fluctuations that are proportional to the intensity of the solar radiation incident upon it. Using the reading obtained from the instrument's thermometer, the varying flux of incident solar radiation can be determined by alternately exposing and shuttering the disc at set intervals. Also known as Abbot silver-disc pyrheliometer.
