swept-source laser

A type of laser in which the output wavelength is adjustable over a wide range of wavelengths. The laser is focused on a particular wavelength and is “swept” over a range of wavelengths. This is useful for rapidly capturing spectral data, such as in spectroscopy and (especially) in Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography.
