A 50-GHz-DWDM product line based on thin-film filters has been released by Oplink Communications Inc. The company incorporates the filter subsystems into its optical add/drop modules for optical networks. The modules can selectively add or drop a data channel from a multiplexed stream of narrowly spaced channels that differ in length by as little as 0.4 nm. The company says they offer a wide yet sharp passband that ensures the selection of only desired wavelengths, thus eliminating optical crosstalk.
