Sarnoff Corp. has introduced the Blinc smart digital camera for surveillance, automotive and machine vision applications. The device's CMOS active pixel sensor technology delivers a 100-dB dynamic range, capturing all details in scenes, including those with simultaneous sunlight and deep shadow. The camera, which measures 1.2 in. sq and 1 in. deep, can go from power-down to image capture in less than 1/10 s and provides both still and 30-fps video image capture. It offers digital and analog output at 640 x 480-pixel resolution and operates on a single 3.6-V power supply. Blinc is available in prototype and in small quantities.
