DM RXA2 and DM RA2 research microscopes from Leica Microsystems Inc. are suitable for automated routines in time-lapse fluorescence, multiple Z-stacking and image acquisition. Objective selection, illumination intensity, focusing, aperture setting and fluorescent filter position are controlled with a satellite remote control unit placed on either side of the microscope. The supply and control electronics are housed in a separate box, enabling application-specific configuration, system integration and the prevention of thermal transfer and electronic noise. A proximity sensor automatically opens the shutter when the user looks through the eyepieces.
