pMoAn RS-232 to RS-422 serial adapter for use with its motion control products is available from Advanced Micro Systems Inc. The SIN-10 supports speeds of up to 115k baud and has both input and output buffers for fast communications. It connects to a standard COM port to control more than 30 axes of motion and performs independent handshake operations. The device has built-in macros and multiple commands per line for reducing host CPU time consumption, and diagnostic LEDs and configuration switches to simplify setup. Input strings are processed at output baud rates of 9600, 38.4k or 470k, allowing rapid multiple-axis command execution.
