A polarizer device that operates in vacuum to 10-6 torr or in inert gas purge environments is available from McPherson Inc. It has NW40 entrance and exit ports, and can hold and rotate cube-type beamsplitting polarizers measuring up to 100 mm long. The unit linearly polarizes straight through beams, and its rotational mount can be inserted and retracted for clear or polarized beam passage. The actuator operates under vacuum, and an engraved scale and view port allows 360 polarizer rotation with 1° readout resolution.
