Variable optical attenuators designed for flat wavelength characteristics across the DWDM ITU region have been released by Alliance Fiber Optic Products Inc. The VOA 2200 series offers stable performance in different temperatures and wavelengths, and high resolution throughout the attenuation range. The compact attenuators provide low polarization-dependent loss, low wavelength-dependent loss, low insertion loss and potentiometer feedback for monitoring attenuation settings. DWDM network applications include power control in optical add-drop multiplexers, transmitters and receivers, and gain tilt control in optical amplifiers.
