A narrow-linewidth 860-nm Bragg laser diode has been introduced by Crystal. It continuously emits 200 mW of uncollimated near-IR radiation at a driving current of approximately 250 mA. The company says its distributed feedback resonator arrangement makes it nearly mode-hop-free at current changes. At an optimum working temperature of 25 °C, the laser offers a slope efficiency of η = 1 A/W. It also has noise behavior of <0.005% rms in the frequency range of 0 to 20 MHz. The device is suitable for applications at the fundamental wave and in harmonic generation.
