Intelligent Motion Systems Inc. has released an integrated motor/driver with variable speed control. The MDrive Speed Control offers either a NEMA 17 or 23 enhanced torque stepping motor and drive with microstepping resolution. It has a digital oscillator for velocity control, with an output frequency of up to 100 kHz. Inputs of 0 to 5 VDC, pulse width modulated signal or 4 to 20 mA are accepted. The device, which operates in bidirectional or unidirectional mode, has onboard electronics and 12 setup parameters stored in nonvolatile memory. Applications include robotics, assembly, semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, inspection, and pick and place.
