The OPM512 optical performance monitor from Ocean Optics Inc. measures the wavelength, amplitude and signal-to-noise ratio of multiple laser lines for C- and L-band analyses. This 512-element InGaAs-array-based system can be used as a spectrum analyzer for laser- and fiber-based analysis applications for the wavelength region from 1300 to 1700 nm. Measuring 228.6 x 101.6 x 38.1 mm, the compact OPM512 provides 100-pm resolution, 50-GHz channel spacing over a 40-nm range and data acquisition rates as fast as 10 µs. The field-deployable device interfaces to a PC via a USB port and communicates with desktop and notebook computers or PLCs that support the RS-232 protocol.
