Model 248/310G grazing incidence spectrometers operate from <1 to 310 nm with a variety of gratings and are optimal for use at <100 nm. The instruments, designed by McPherson Inc., have working ranges that overlap those of crystal and normal-incidence devices. They have a 1-m focal length with variable angles of incidence, built-in filter holders and various single- and multichannel detection schemes. The spectrometers are available in high-vacuum and ultrahigh-vacuum versions and are equipped with intensifiers for surveying broad spectral regions for laser or plasma diagnostic applications. They can be turned into tunable monochromatic sources by mounting an x-ray or hollow cathode source.
