Nufern has added polarization-maintaining fiber tails to its PM14XX-HP and PM1550-HP metalized optical fibers. The fiber tails, which also can be used with customer-supplied PM fibers, are suitable for use in lithium niobate modulators, laser diodes and diode stabilizers. The company says its proprietary electroless nickel and gold fiber plating process preserves the birefringence of the fiber, providing a minimum crosstalk <236 dB and a typical crosstalk <243 dB. Also offered are enhanced subassembly capabilities, including: angle, wedge and cone end-shaping; front and rear ferruling; AR coatings; and SC and FC connectors.
