Spectroline UV quartz lamps with a 1/4-in. diameter are available from Spectronics Corp. The 11SC-1 and -2 shortwave pencil lamps deliver an average 254-nm intensity of 4500 and 2000 µW/cm2, respectively, at 1 in. The 11SC-1 is 5 in. long and has a 2 1/8-in.-long lighted tube; the 11SC-2 is 3 1/2-in. long and has a 3/4-in.-long lighted tube. They can be used as spectral calibration sources in spectroscopy, chromatography and photometry. The company says that they provide stable output and cool operation for thousands of hours. These mercury vapor discharge lamps can be custom-engineered for OEM equipment.
