The Optronik RMS-10gse retroreflectometer available from Labsphere Inc. comprises an illumination projector and a receiver to measure light from automotive retroreflectors. Because the device is temperature-regulated to standard illuminant A, it is ready for use without long burn-in procedures. It can be placed at a distance of 10 m (ECE-compliant design) or 100 ft (SAE-compliant). The included Opto software provides a graphical interface and menu-driven controls for acquiring, displaying and analyzing data. A motor-driven detector can be controlled via PC or by a keypad on the front panel to set the observation angle. When used with Optronik SMS-10 goniophotometers, the company says, the device provides accurate measurement of the photometric properties of a variety of retroreflectors.
