The MuxLink-ELX4 transceiver offers extended reach, transmitting up to 40 km over standard single-mode fiber. The coarse WDM device from Molex Fiber Optics features a Xenpak form factor and can transfer data at 10 Gb/s. It uses 1300-nm uncooled distributed feedback lasers and dissipates 4.5 W. The company says the module's extended reach eliminates the need to install dispersion-shifted fiber and allows flexibility in system configuration with interoperable 10- and 40-km links. Also available is the MuxLink-MP, a multiple protocol version that can be used at data rates from 1.0 to 3.2 Gb/s per lane.
