A CO2 slab laser with an average output power of 5000 W is available from Rofin Laser Macro Group. The DC 050 W diffusion-cooled laser is suitable for applications such as ultralarge-scale remote welding of parts in the automotive industry and for welding aluminum parts, tubes and profiles. The company says the laser's beam quality (K >=0.9) enables it to produce narrow, deep seams with minimal heat distortion. The device requires no gas circulation, and its single transmitting lens is a diamond window.
