Edmund Industrial Optics has released a long-wave thermal camera for industrial and security applications. The heat-sensing device is sensitive from 8 to 14 µm and has a dynamic range of 66 dB. The sensing element and internal circuitry produce a 320 x 240 interpolated gray-scale image with 50-µm square pixels. The camera can operate as a stand-alone unit, or it can be controlled via an RS-232 connection. Software is included for controlling freeze frame averaging, image uploading, brightness, contrast and gamma correction. Two coated germanium lenses are available for the camera.
