LASER MEASUREMENT The Model 10K-W thermopile surface absorber head from Ophir Optronics Inc. measures YAG and CO2 lasers at up to 10,000 W without damage or changes in calibration. The water-cooled device has a damage threshold of 10 kW/cm2 power density. The company says the power head is based on a proprietary technology that spreads the beam over a large area to avoid damage to the thermopile sensor. Model 10K-W is spectrally flat from 0.19 to 20 µm and has a 45-mm aperture and a power range from 200 to 10,000 W.
