Optenso has announced version 4.88 of its OpTalix optical design software. Added program capabilities include physical optics beam propagation and fiber-coupling efficiency, extended object image analysis, polygonal apertures, sheared light pipes and user-definable gradient-index dispersion. The software provides sample lenses as well as catalogs of glasses, IR materials, liquids and gradient-index materials. It can import and export via Code V, Zemax and Oslo, and it enables a range of graphics export options, thin-film analysis and optimization, tolerancing, test plate fitting and nonsequential ray tracing. It runs under Windows 9x, ME, 2000 and XP.
