Newport Corp. has released a modular alignment and metrology system for fiber optic components, such as planar waveguides, arrayed waveguide gratings and fiber collimators. The AutoAlign Modal comprises a breadboard, a PC and Integra software, and offers three axes each of automated and manual motion. The company says this semiautomated packaging tool uses the same mechanical and software interfaces as its fully automated systems, enabling users to move from the lab to the production floor. Options include motorized cameras, vibration-isolated workstations and automated epoxy delivery and UV curing.
