Performance Motion Devices Inc. has added the MC3510 step motor controller to its Pilot line of motion processor chips. The single-axis motion processor provides pulse and direction output at up to 50,000 pulses per second. Features include s-curve profiling, multiple breakpoints, on-the-fly profile changes, at-rest indicators and programmable PLC inputs and outputs. The controller is powered by 5 V and has a 132-pin package with surface-mount CMOS technology. It is driven by a host microprocessor through an asynchronous bidirectional serial port or through a 16-bit microprocessor-style parallel interface.
