The automated visual inspection tool FiberQA-AVIT developed by PVI Systems Inc. enhances the fiber optic end face inspection process for connectors such as ceramic and MT ferrules with single- or multimode fibers. The system locates, focuses and analyzes each fiber in a large inspection area, enabling operator-free inspection of products with large fiber-channel counts. With software and hardware reconfiguration, the system can handle numerous products. It was developed using National Instruments' LabView and IMAQ Vision tools, and it incorporates the IMAQ-1407 image acquisition card.
