ASE MODULE NP Photonics Inc. has introduced an amplified spontaneous emission module that can be used as a light source for fiber optic gyros and passive optical component testing, offering a broadband output from 1525 to 1565 nm. The ASE SMP-4010, which also is suitable for sensing and spectroscopy applications, is available in 7-, 10- or 13-dBm versions with power stability of ±0.01 dB. It consumes <3 W and delivers stable light via a single-mode fiber with a 250- or 900-µm-diameter jacket. A gain-flattening filter is optional.
