The X-Y-Z serial kinematic stages launched by Alio Industries offer greater precision and lower start-up costs compared with other such devices, according to the company. Designed for applications in several markets, including fiber optics and medical technology, the stages provide resolution down to 5 nm and repeatability below 10 nm, at a velocity from 70 to 250 mm/s. They generate no electromagnetic fields, are Class-10 cleanroom-compatible, and are suitable for use in high-vacuum environments down to 10 e to 10 t. Based on the Nanomotion linear piezomotor, the devices offer encoded motion at better than 5-nm resolution over travel ranges from 12 to 400 mm.
