Perten Instruments introduces a second-generation NIR analysis system based on a diode array. The DA 7200 can be used to measure the moisture, protein, fat/oil, fiber or sugar in food, grains, feeds, pellets and pastes. Samples require no preparation and are placed in open dishes in full ambient light. The instrument collects spectra in 3 s and performs total analysis in 10 s. Other features include an emission source for automatically monitoring wavelength accuracy and stability, automated referencing, Windows XP software and a removable USB data storage device. The system contains no moving components, which the company says eliminates wavelength alignment and adds to the robustness of the device.
