To extend the power of LabVIEW into low-cost, rugged machine vision applications, National Instruments recently introduced the NI CVS-1454, a compact industrial vision system that handles multiple camera outputs in a small form factor.
The system features three IEEE-1394 (FireWire) ports for connectivity to a variety of imaging sensors, including Sony and Basler cameras. You can take advantage of FireWire technology while choosing the resolution and speed of these cameras to match specific application needs. With one device and multiple camera options, creating a customized machine vision application with the NI compact vision system results in a lower cost-per-camera solution.
The system's integrated I/O architecture delivers 15 digital input and 14 digital output lines, as well as RS-232 and Ethernet connectivity to more than 20 NI FieldPoint distributed I/O measurement modules. It features an operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C and has no fans or external vents, enabling it to withstand harsh industrial environments. The built-in LabVIEW real-time engine and 128 MB of memory ensure a deterministic and reliable system for packaging, assembly, robotics and industrial inspection.
