Holographic volume Bragg gratings (VBG) that lock the emission wavelength of high-power multimode laser diodes have been developed by PD-LD Inc. The company says its VBG wave-locking technology transforms multimode diodes into narrowband emitters with a linewidth of <0.5 nm, central wavelength control of <±0.5 nm and thermal sensitivity of only 0.01 nm/°C. The gratings reduce or eliminate redshift, extending the lifetime of diode pump bars. They are suitable for applications that require precise wavelengths, such as pumping solid-state lasers, sensing and chemical analysis.
