The WA-5900 Wavemeter from Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. is an interrogation system that simultaneously measures the reflected optical signals from multiple fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors to monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, pressure and strain in remote areas. Data from the device can be used to improve industrial productivity and to alert operators of hazardous situations in civil, geophysical, petrochemical and utilities applications. It offers a full illumination/measurement system, and wide wavelength coverage for versatility. The company says that the monitor measures the absolute wavelength to ±1.5-pm accuracy.
