The TLS250/251RD and TLS260/261RD light-to-voltage converters from Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions Inc. (Taos) are now available in eight-pin small-outline integrated-circuit packages that stand 1.8 mm high. The surface-mount packaging design is suitable for high-volume, low-profile applications such as printers, smoke detectors and dishwashers. The optical sensors incorporate a photodiode and a transimpedance amplifier in an integrated circuit, and their output voltage is proportional to the light intensity (irradiance) on the photodiode. The company says the devices have low power consumption and enhanced amplifier offset-voltage stability.
