The QSB34 photosensor has been introduced by Fairchild Semiconductor. The PIN photodiode device has a surface area of 3 X 3 mm and a reception angle of 120°. Its packaging creates an integral, transparent daylight filter optimized for reception of wavelengths from 880 to 940 nm. Even with the filter, the flux response is typically 0.4 A/W at 900 nm. With 25-pF capacitance and small series resistance, the photosensor has 20-ns rise and fall times and provides a dynamic signal range of 60 dB. Gull-wing and reversed X-bend mounting configurations are available respectively, for topside or underboard mounting, with a profile of only 1.25 mm from the mounting surface.
