The Fastcam-X 512 PCI camera system from Photron USA is engineered for high-speed operation inside any desktop computer. It is available in 30-bit color and 10-bit monochrome configurations. The 2K model operates at up to 2000 fps with 512 X 512-pixel resolution; the 32K operates at up to 32,000 fps. Standard memory is 1.3 GB, providing capacity for 4000 full-resolution images of 4-s duration at 1000 fps. Memory of 2.6 GB, also available, provides twice the frame capacity and record duration. The system runs on Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP, and two software platforms are supplied. An optional expansion system enables the user to place the PCI card in a cradle for connection to a laptop computer, and a separate hard drive stores images remotely.
