CrystalWave, a computer-aided planar photonic crystal circuit design environment from Photon Design, features a lattice editor that defines complex structures that have thousands of holes, a mask file generator that exports to GDS-II, and a 2- and 3-D FDTD simulation engine for computing optical propagation. The editor, designed for flexibility and ease of use, offers free rotation, multiple undo/redo, arbitrary lattice parameters and hole shape. The script allows the user to automatically construct complex structures and, the company says, the system performs with efficiency, accuracy and speed of simulation.
