Applied Scientific Instrumentation The PZ-2000 X-Y-Z stage from Applied Scientific Instrumentation provides a high-resolution, precise means of controlling the positions of a microscope stage. The X-Y axes use crossed-roller slides, high-precision lead screws and zero-backlash, closed-loop DC servomotors with built-in encoders for positional feedback and smooth, accurate motion; the Z-axis is moved by a piezo element in the top plate. Linear encoded units achieve resolution down to 20 nm and repeatability accuracies of <300 nm rms. The Z-axis has nanometer resolution and accuracy, with a range of 100 µm.
