Faraday Cages Technical Manufacturing Corp. (TMC) has enhanced the functionality of its line of Faraday cages with additional options and features. The BenchTop cage has a reinforced stainless steel baseplate that mounts to a benchtop rather than to a vibration isolation table. The baseplate can support a compact vibration isolation system or a microscope or other instrument. Access is improved by a window-shade retracting front panel that the company says is easier to operate than hinged doors and that causes less disturbance when adjusted. It can be positioned anywhere between fully open and closed, and it stays in place without a fastener. The 40-in.-high cage has a stainless steel frame and is made of copper-mesh material. It has a 2-in.-diameter hole in both the side and rear panels through which a cable passes to the interior. The hole is sleeved with a rounded rubber liner to shield sharp edges.
