The USS-1200V-LL Starlight uniform source system from Labsphere Inc. is used in imaging systems and focal-plane arrays, in radiometers and photometers, and to calibrate and test UV, visible and near-IR sensors. It provides spectral irradiance levels that are comparable to those of an m = 0 star, with irradiance variable over more than eight decades and with uniformity of >98 percent. Features include a satellite sphere illuminator, a motorized variable attenuator, a bandpass filter wheel, a neutral density filter and two detectors to monitor irradiance at the exit port. The SC-5500 system controller operates via an IEEE-488 bus and an RS-232 serial port.
