Mathematical Modeling Femlab 3.0 is now available as a stand-alone program that still can be integrated into Matlab from The Mathworks. Comsol says that its designers wrote the code for the 3.0 from the ground up in C++ and Java, and that it computes some modules as much as 20 times faster and uses 20 times less memory than its predecessor. The software can model almost any physical phenomena that can be described in partial differential equations, such as heat transfer and fluid flow.
