The LSM 5 Pascal MAT confocal laser scanning microscope from Carl Zeiss Ltd. offers users new tools for materials research and quality inspection applications. An expanded topography package now records X-Z profiles along lines or freehand curves, and topographic animations may be generated and exported in all 3-D presentation modes. New StitchArt software enables the acquisition of high-resolution profiles and topographies extending over more than 100 times the scanning field of the microscope. The instrument is available with three new microscope stands, the Axioskop 2 MAT, Axiovert 200 MAT and Axiotron 2.
