Rofin Laser Macro Group has expanded its series of CO2 slab lasers with the DC 060 W, a diffusion-cooled model that delivers an average of 6000 W and that is suitable for welding applications such as car and aluminum parts, and tubes and profiles. Beam quality of K ≥=0.9 results in narrow seams with minimal heat distortion, such as those required in the welding of gear parts, and it generates a higher power density that converts to higher processing speeds. The device also is available with a "donut mode" for welding applications that require increased seam widths. Internal optics multiply the focus diameter of the beam at a given focal distance by a factor of two. The laser does not require gas circulation, and its single transmitting lens is a diamond window.
