ColorSelect filters from ColorLink Inc., based on proprietary retarder-stack technology, control color via polarization, rather than by thin-film interference or absorption effects. Applications include color splitting and combining, polarization conversion systems, panel compensation and polarizing screens. Retarder stacks rotate the state of polarization of a primary color band by 90°, while the complementary band retains the input state. Specifications include 99% typical transmission, slopes of ~15 nm, linearly polarized input illumination, flat passband profiles, a field of view of ~1 nm shift at ±30°, and an operating temperature from 10 to 65 °C and storage at –20 to 75 °C. The company says that the filters integrate easily with other optical components and that they can be readily tuned to meet the desired color coordinates.
