Automated OPA OPerA is a femtosecond optical parametric amplifier that extends the wavelength range of Ti:sapphire kilohertz amplifiers from the UV to the mid-IR. Introduced by Coherent Inc., the automated, low-noise device is suitable for ultrafast applications such as femtosecond spectroscopy and nonlinear optics. Available in three versions, the standard one tunes from 1150 to 2900 nm, the Opera-VIS adds output from 400 to 1150 nm and the Opera-UV adds output from <300 to 400 nm. The device can be pumped at 1 or 5 kHz. Pump energy of 1.0 mJ produces >0.1-mJ signal and >0.05-mJ idler beams. The unit is compatible with many ultrafast amplifiers but is designed specifically to work with Coherent's Legend and Libra models.
