Spectra Systems Corp. says that its monolithic, diode-pumped solid-state laser produces high power at low cost with increased efficiency. Suitable for a broad range of applications, the device comprises an Nd:YAG laser with an integrated passive Q-switch, and it produces 4-mJ, 3-ns pulses at 1064 nm at repetition rates of up to 125 Hz. The laser can be structured to use a KTP frequency doubler to produce 532-nm pulses with energies higher than 2 mJ. With a footprint of 20 × 7.5 × 10 cm and a mass of 1.2 kg, the system incorporates a control module and power supply.
