The FSM-300 fast-steering mirror from Newport Corp. measures 1 in. in diameter and provides automated laser beam positioning, image stabilization, and beam scanning, pointing, tracking and stabilization. Applications include free-space telecommunications, semiconductor metrology, medical devices and astronomical imaging. The turnkey device offers high bandwidth, two-axis stabilization, and pointing and scanning of laser beams over a ±52-mrad (±3°) range with resolution better than 1 µrad. It has a field-replaceable Pyrex mirror that is coated with either enhanced aluminum for high reflectivity in the visible spectrum or protected gold for the IR. A driver provides the control signals and interfaces with external electronics.
