Laser Turning Mirrors Laser Research Optics has released a line of CO2 laser turning mirrors and phase retardation reflectors for use with 25- to 200-W industrial laser systems. They are optimized for 10.6 µm at a 45° area of interest and are available with diameters of 1/2 to 3 in., tolerances of +0.000 to–0.0005 in. and thicknesses from 2 to 10 mm. Applications include engraving, welding, cutting, marking and hole drilling. The devices are made from molybdenum, silicon, and silicon with enhanced copper, silver or DBMR dual-band polarization-controlled reflectance coatings. Those made from molybdenum provide 98% average reflectance, and those made of silicon, 99.5% to 99.7%. All exhibit <2% absorption and scatter losses.
